ABOUT VANESSA
"The irony of finding our life's purpose is we often stumble upon it as we try to make sense of trauma or tragedy in our lives."
Vanessa helps survivors express themselves through "Write Songs to Heal" workshops and through original songs and live talks she is assisting the public, in general, become more aware of domestic violence, its effects and how to prevent its societal and emotionally destructive cycle.
A survivor herself, she is now a certified violence crisis counselor and is at work on the project's first CD, a book, writes various other forms of web content and also serves on the board of Connecticut Alliance for Victims of Violence and their Families. (Ct-Alive.) She frequently partners with Attorney and author Susan M. Omilian to present her music to teens and others at colleges, womens centers and conferences related to dating violence.
Without her guitar, Vanessa sings lead in The Happening, a popular Connecticut-based dance, casino and wedding band.
